The Competitions
This year teams will choose to compete in the First Responder 3-Gun competition or TAC COMP 2026. Both competitions will be made up of shooters on teams of 2 competitors from Police, Fire, EMS, Sheriff, State Trooper, and Game Warden departments.
This year Shooters will complete each stage with their teammate. Each team competing in the 3-Gun competition will complete 3 stages using pistol, rifle, and shotgun. Each team competing in the TAC COMP 2026 will complete the pistol stage, rifle stage, and a new tactical stage. Also, the TAC COMP 2026 competitors will be required to wear a plate carrier or weighted vest weighing at least 15 pounds for the entirety of the competition.
Pistol Stage
Both shooters will engage 1 paper target at 7 yards and 1 steel target at 20 yards from each of 5 positions through ports in a barricade wall for a total of 10 targets. Each position will be color coded and will correspond with the colored target to be engaged on paper and steel. The shooters will begin the stage with 4 rounds of 9mm and will have to complete a mag change with an additional 6 rounds to engage a total of 10 targets. Points will be scored based on hits on targets.
TAC COMP 2026 - Shooters competing in TAC COMP 2026 will be required to complete 3 burpees before engaging targets and complete an additional 3 burpees before loading the second magazine.
Rifle Stage
Both shooters will engage 1 paper target at 25 yards and a steel torso target at 145 yards from each of 5 positions on a V-Tac wall for a total of 10 shots on target. Each position will be color coded and will correspond with the colored target to be engaged on paper. The shooters will begin the stage with 4 rounds of .223 and will have to complete a mag change with an additional 6 rounds to engage a total of 10 targets. Points will be scored based on hits on targets.
TAC COMP 2026 - Shooters competing in TAC COMP 2026 will be required to complete 3 wind sprints before engaging targets and complete an additional 3 wind sprints before loading the second magazine.
Shotgun Stage (First Responder 3-Gun competitors only)
Both shooters will be at stands and have 2 rounds of 12 gauge loaded and ready to shoot the stage. When pull is called, 20 clay targets will be thrown in sequence without stopping. One teammate will engage the first 2 clay targets and the other teammate will engage the next 2 clay targets. Teammates will rotate shooting 2 clay targets and reloading until all 20 clay targets have been thrown. Each shooter will have the opportunity to engage 10 clay targets. Points will be scored based on the number of clay targets hit per shooter.
Tactical Stage (TAC COMP 2026 competitors only)
Shooters will begin the stage with a 50 pound sand bag and will carry the sand bag for the entirety of the stage. On the signal to start the stage shooters will:
Carry their sand bag to a sled pull area and place their sand bag on the sled.
Pull the sled backwards as far as they can in 30 seconds. Points will be scored based on distance the sled is pulled.
Carry their sand bag to the rifle range and engage 4 targets from the V-Tac wall (similar to the previous rifle stage). During the magazine change the shooters will complete a bear crawl with their sand bag to retrieve their additional magazine then complete a bear crawl back to the V-Tac wall to engage the remaining 6 targets. Points will be scored based on hits on target.
Carry their sand bag back to the sled pull area. They will place their sand bag on the sled and pull the sled to them using a 16.5 foot rope (the shooters feet must be planted when the sled is moving). Then grab the end of the rope, run back to extend the rope, and pull the sled to them. Repeating this process to pull the sled as far as they can for 30 seconds. Points will be scored based on distance the sled is pulled.
Carry their sand bag to the pistol range and break through a barricade door using a 60 pound ram.
Engage 4 targets from through the barricade wall (similar to the previous pistol stage). During the magazine change the shooters will carry their sand bag, throw it over the barricade door, and crawl under the barricade door to retrieve their additional magazine. Then they will throw their sand bag over the barricade door, crawl under the barricade door, and engage the remaining 6 targets through the barricade wall. Points will be scored based on hits on target.
Carry their sand bag back to the sled pull area. They will place their sand bag on the sled and pull the sled forward using a fire hose over their shoulder as far as they can for 30 seconds. Points will be scored based on distance the sled is pulled.
The stage score will be the cumulative points earned for hits on target and sled pull distance.
The shooters’ time to complete each stage will be recorded. If a tie for the highest score occurs, the shooter completing the stage or stages in the shortest amount of time will be considered the winner.
