The Competition

Free Range Ministries hosted the 4th Annual First Responder 3-Gun Competition for first responders in Marshall County on November 2, 2024 at The Barn at Free Range Farm.

The competition was made up of shooters on teams of 3 competitors from: Albertville Police Department, Albertville Fire Department, Arab Police Department, Boaz Police Department, Douglas Police Department, Douglas Fire Department, Sardis City Police Department, and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. Each shooter competed in 3 stages using pistol, rifle, and shotgun. The shooter’s time on each stage was used to break a tie for the highest score.

Pistol Stage

Shooters began the stage with 10 rounds of 9mm and engaged 8 targets. There were 4 paper targets that were scored 1, 3, 5, or 7 points based on shot placements. There were 4 steel targets that were scored 5 points each. Shooters engaged a paper target and a steel target that were visible from 4 positions around a barricade wall. Shooters acquired 2 bonus points for each round remaining after hitting all targets.

Shooter’s Choice Bonus - If any rounds remained after hitting all targets, the shooter could choose to engage a 4” steel target worth 5 additional points per hit. If missed, the shooter lost the original 2 point bonus for that round.
